이번 주말은 멀리 가지 않고 30분 거리에 있는 Dash Point State Park 으로 갔다.

Razor Clam도 한달 후에나 다시 Open 하고 어제까지 비가 와서 송이버섯은 담주 쯤 따러 기는게 좋을 것 같고...

오늘 (9/26/2020)은 State Park 주차장 사용이 무료라서 사람들이 많아서 주차장이 꽉 차지 않을까 하고 걱정했는데 그렇지는 않았다.

평일에는 이 게시판에 쓰여져 있는 것 처럼 주차하려면 Discover Pass 를 사야 한다.

여기서는 밀물에는 뻘에서 조개를 잡고 썰물때는 낚시를 할 수 있었다.

잡히는 조개는 대부분 Varnish Clam이다.

구글링 해 보면 원산지가 일본, 한국 으로 나온다.

한국말로는 뭘까 아무리 찾아봐도 정보는 없었다.

누가 그러는데 재첩류라고 하던데 맞는지는 모르겠다.

(나중에 재첩국 처럼 끓여 먹었는데 맛은 딱 재첩국 이었다.)

물고기는 작은 잡어들만 잡혀서 다 풀어주고 왔다.

낚시는 근처 5분 거리에 있는 Dash Point Pier에 사람들이 주로 간다.

이제 오징어 철이 다가 오는 것 같은데 여기서 오징어 낚시도 많이 하는 것 같다.

플로리다에서 시애틀로 이사온지 한 3개월 되는 것 같다.

Covid 19 때문에 워싱턴주 운전면허증으로 교체하고 자동차 번호판 받는게 거의 두달 걸렸다.

먼저 거주지 확보를 하고 DMV에 가서 Driver's License를 받아야 하는데 인터넷으로 예약을 해야 한다.

그러면 거의 한달 후에나 약속일을 잡을 수 있다.

운전 면허증을 따면 그 다음에 할 일은 자동차 등록과 함께 번호판을 받는 것.

운전면허증을 받는데 너무 오래 걸려서 이거는 그냥 예약 안하고 그냥 갔다.

(여기는 운전면허증을 받는 곳과 자동차 등록하고 번호판 받는곳이 다르다.)

예약을 하면 한달 후에 약속이 잡히지만 현장에서는 줄 설 필요 없이 그냥 직행해서 일을 볼 수 있다.

예약을 안하면 그장 Walk in 하면 되지만 줄이 길 경우 한시간 가까지 현장에서 기다려야 한다.

어쨌든 Washington 주 운전면허증과 번호판을 받았다.

이제 워싱턴주 거주자로서 워싱턴 생활을 즐길 수 있게 됐다.

때마침 9월 16일 (수) 부터 Razor Clam 시즌이 오픈됐다.

Razor Clam 오픈 후 첫번째 주말인 9월 19일 토요일 Mocrocks beach로 아침 일찍 떠났다.

집에서 한 2시간 반 걸린다.

아침 8시 쫌 넘어서 도착했는데 벌써 많은 사람들이 조개를 잡고 있었다.

나는 급하게 License를 따서 Clam Gun이라는 도구를 살 시간이 없어서 그냥 집에 있던 모종삽을 가지고 갔다.

도구 없이 모종삽과 손만으로 모래를 파내고 Razor Clam 을 잡는 일은 쉽지만은 않았다.

하지만 엄청 재밌고 데쳐서 먹는 그 맛은 환상이었다.

두어시간 잡다 보니 힘도 빠지고 또 밀물이 들어와서 물도 많이 차고 해서 총 9마리 잡고 Razor Clam 사냥은 종료.

그 다음은 Tolmie State Park으로 굴을 따러 가기로 했다.

거리는 한시간 정도 되는 거리다. 집에서 Razor Clam 잡는 해변 가는 길에 있는 State Park 이다.

가는 중에 고속도로에서 Trump를 지지하는 차량 행렬들을 볼 수 있었다.

플로리다에서는 Trump를 지지하는 보트 행렬을 보았었는데 오늘은 워싱턴주 고속도로에서 차량행렬을 봤다.

트럼프 지지자들의 열정이 대단한 것 같다.

어쨌든 Tolmie State Park에 와서 굴따기를 시작했다.

이곳은 생각보다는 좁았다.

그리고 시애틀 도심이랑 가까운 곳이라서 그런지 벌써 사람들이 많이 다녀가서 굴껍데기만 많았다.

그래도 잘 뒤져보면 크기는 작지만 알맹이가 있는 굴 껍질을 찾을 수 있었고 Limit을 채울 수 있을 정도로 굴을 딸 수 있었다.

굴 limit은 1인당 1일 18개 씩이다.

Razor Clam은 1인당 1일 15개 씩이다.

그리고 이 state park에는 바지락류도 많았다.

License를 가지고 있으면 하루에 Total 40개의 조개류를 채취할 수 있다.

Razor Clam 은 도구가 없어서 Limit에 한참 못 미치게 땄고 굴과 바지락을 합쳐서 겨우 Limit에 가깝게 채취했다.

맛은 Razor Clam이 차원이 다르게 맛있고 바지락과 굴도 신선하고 너무 좋았다.

State Park에 주차를 하려면 티켓을 사야 되는데 Annual Ticket은 30불이다.

Fishing License가 53불 State Park Ticket이 30불 들었다. 

그리고 도구들 사려면 또 돈이 든다.

지난번에는 National Park Pass 도 Annual 짜리로 샀다.

이건 80블이다. 이것만 있으면 전국의 모든 National Park을 입장할 수 있다.

이 Pass로는 Mt. Rainier 국립공원을 다녀왔다.

이곳 워싱턴주에는 3개의 국립공원이 있다.

그리고 그 국립공원들 주면에 National Forest들이 있다.

한 9개 정도 있는 것 같다.

국립공원 안에서는 버섯 채취가 금지이지만 National Forest에서는 버섯을 채취 할 수 있다.

각 National Forest마다 관리하는 방법이 다른데 어떤 곳에서는 그냥 자유롭게 딸 수 있고 또 다른 곳에서는 그곳에서 발행하는 안내문을 다운 받아야 한다.

모두 돈을 내는 것은 아니다. 그냥 공짜다.

지금까지 버섯들은 꽤 땄다.

이제 9월 말이니까 여기서는 송이 버섯이 날 때라고 한다.

담주부터는 송이버섯 사냥에 나갈 계획이다.
