Korean slugger Park has 4-year deal with Twins

MINNEAPOLIS -- The Twins and first baseman/designated hitter Byung Ho Park agreed Tuesday on a four-year contract, with a club option for the 2020 season.

MN Twins 와 박병호 선수 (1루수 겸 지명타자)는 화요일 2020 년 club option 을 포함한 4년 계약을 체결했다.

The deal includes $12 million in guaranteed salary, with Park earning $2.75 million in 2016 and 2017 and $3 million in 2018 and 2019. The club option for 2020 is worth $6.5 million with a $500,000 buyout.

The Twins won negotiating rights to Park last month by posting a bid with the Nexen Heroes for $12.85 million.

Park, 29, batted .343 (181-for-528) with 35 doubles, 53 home runs, 146 RBIs and 10 stolen bases in 140 games for the Nexen Heroes of the Korea Baseball Organization last season. He led the league in home runs and RBIs and ranked second in runs (129), OPS (1.150) and slugging percentage (.714).

박병호는 29세로 지난 한국의 야구시즌에서 넥센 히어로 소속으로 타율 .343 (528 중 181)과 35 doubles,홈런 53개, 타점 146점 그리고 10개의 도루를 기록했다. 그는 홈런과 타점에서 리그를 주도했으며 득점 (129), OPS (On hase percentage Plus Slugging percentage 출루율+장타율) - 1.150 그리고 , 장타율 (.714) 에서 2위를 기록했다.


Over parts of nine seasons in the KBO, Park played in 868 games with a .281 career average, 137 doubles, 604 RBIs and 210 home runs, including hitting 105 home runs over the past two seasons. The right-handed-hitting Park will look to become the 18th Korean-born player to reach the Major Leagues.

Park is expected to serve mostly as designated hitter for the Twins, and Park told reporters on Sunday that's he's fine with that role.

"I have no problem with being the DH," Park said. "Obviously, I prefer to take the field but I also have to make adjustments in a new environment."
